I-DG: A Secure Protocol for Disseminating Data to Subscribers via IP Multicast

چکیده
This paper proposes the IP Multicast-enabled Drop Groups (I-DG) protocol as a solution to the problem of efficiently and securely disseminating information to a large number of subscribers in the Internet. The I-DG protocol uses an appropriate IP multicasting protocol as the base and addresses the problems introduced by large scale data dissemination. I-DG provides dynamic subscription to multicast data, efficient secure subscription in IP multicasting, and proposes a solution to content organization in broad-

A secure multicast protocol for the internet's multicast backbone
I n recent years, the Internet has seen an increase in the number of new applications that rely on multicast transmission. Multicast is a technology that conserves bandwidth in point-to-multipoint transmission. With the development of Mbone technology, an Internet-wide virtual network for point-to-multipoint transmission, group communication becomes possible NetMeeting, NetShow and many other a...
متن کاملKey Management for Secure Multicast in Hybrid Satellite Networks
This paper proposes a design for key management for secure multicast in hybrid satellite networks. Communication satellites offer an efficient way to extend IP multicast services for groups in wide-area networks. In order to be commercially viable, the multicast traffic should be accessible only to paying subscribers. Access control can be achieved by data encryption. This requires secure and e...
متن کاملSpatial Clustering for IP Multicast: Algorithms and an Application
We introduce spatial clustering of multicast group members as a mechanism to scale wide-area multicast-based applications. To motivate the use of such structures, we present a clustering based re-keying scheme for secure multicast. Using amortized analysis, we show that the communication, processing, and storage costs for this scheme to distribute keys upon membership changes is of constant ord...
متن کاملA Novel Architecture for Secure and Scalable Multicast over IP Network
Currently, multicast services can be implemented at the IP layer or the application layer. While IP multicast violates the stateless paradigm of Internet and incurs great difficulties to congestion and flow control, application-layer multicast is lack of scalability due to the unreliability and resource constraints of end-hosts. Moreover, security is a main weakness in Internet-wide group commu...
متن کاملScalable Secure Group Communication over IP Multicast
We introduce and analyze a scalable re-keying scheme for implementing secure group communications over IP multicast. We show that our scheme incurs constant processing, message, and storage overhead for a re-key operation when a single member joins or leaves the group, and logarithmic overhead for bulk simultaneous changes to the group membership. These bounds hold even when group dynamics are ...
